Brazilian Butt Lift

A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) involves fat grafting, where excess fat is removed from another body area and then injected into the buttocks for a fuller appearance. The size and shape of your buttocks are transformed during this 2-in-1 procedure in 3 - 8 hours. A BBL is the ideal procedure for any client who wants a lifted, tightened, and naturally curved bottom.

What BBL types are out there?

The different approaches to Buttock Augmentations can be discussed with your Bliss Care Advisor and dedicated surgeon. It’s important to consider the benefits and considerations of each, which could make your procedure type the right choice for you.

01.

Fat transfer BBL:

The BBL is the most frequently performed buttock procedure because of its natural-looking results and dual benefits of fat removal and augmentation. This specific procedure involves liposuction to harvest fat from another area of the body, like the hips, abdomen, or thighs. The fat is then purified and injected into the buttocks to enhance shape and volume. The donor areas are sculpted as well, creating a proportional body type. You truly get the best of both worlds with this approach.

02.

Buttock implants:

Implants are the secret to significant volume increase, but you should know that this specific procedure comes with an increased risk of infection and displacement in the buttocks. If you opt for buttock implants, you’ll undergo a surgical insertion of silicone either above, below, or within the gluteal muscle, depending on your surgeon’s technique and desired results. Buttock implants should be carefully discussed with your Care Advisor.

03.

Combination procedures:

You have complete control over your body and choices, so if you want to go for a combination procedure, with implants and a fat transfer, then this is entirely possible. Typically, the implants will be inserted within the gluteal muscle first, then the fat from a donor area is harvested and transferred for increased volume and shape.

The benefits, basics, and big picture.

Every procedure begins with a wish, but it’s not magic. It’s a choice. The perks? Powerful. The trade-offs? Just as real. When you know what’s ahead, you walk in confident in your decision, not just hopeful.

Visible Results, Lower Risk

Varying Fat Retention

A Specific Risk to Think About

Results are noticeable immediately after surgery, with continued improvement as swelling subsides. Because the procedure uses your fat, there’s a lower risk of infection and complications compared to traditional implants.

Fat is gently removed from areas like the abdomen or thighs and transferred to the buttocks, improving overall body balance. The result is a more sculpted silhouette and a natural look and feel.

The BBL is a highly customizable procedure. By using your fat, it’s tailored to complement your natural curves and meet your personal aesthetic goals. No one-size-fits-all approach here.

Healing is a key part of your BBL journey. To protect your results, you’ll need to avoid sitting directly on your buttocks for several weeks and follow post-op instructions closely. This includes proper hygiene to reduce infection risk and attending follow-up appointments to monitor your progress.

Not all transferred fat cells survive, which is completely normal. A skilled surgeon will account for this by transferring slightly more fat during the procedure. On average, about 60% of the fat remains long-term, helping to achieve natural-looking, lasting results.

To make sure you get the best results and stay safe, it's important to be aware of one potential risk: a fat embolism. This happens if fat enters the bloodstream, which can occur if fat is injected too deeply into the gluteal muscles. To reduce this risk, experienced, board-certified surgeons who live and breathe strict safety measures like using large cannulas, injecting only into the fat layer above the muscle, and operating in accredited facilities. Your Bliss-verified surgeon will be with you every step of the way to minimize these risks and help you feel confident throughout your process.

Financing is how most Bliss clients bring their dreams to life. Yet, 76% of people exploring procedures still don’t know this option is available. No wonder 85% of those who don’t book say affordability is holding them back, and two-thirds would be more likely to move forward if they knew financing was an option.

We work with trusted lenders like CareCredit to offer you a range of financing options, so you can get started on your procedure now and pay over time. Flexible, secure, and with 0% interest for up to 24 months, it’s care that fits your budget, not the other way around. With multiple providers, we’ll make sure you get the best rate possible.

Find the right Brazilian Butt Lift surgeon.

One of the most important parts of your aesthetic journey is finding the right surgeon for your procedure. One who will honor and respect your comfort level, aesthetic goals, and give you the results you’ve been wanting. But how do you know when you’ve found “the one?”

Board certification

Surgeons who are certified in aesthetic or ophthalmic surgery have undergone rigorous training and must pass comprehensive written and oral exams. Certification ensures that the surgeon has met high standards of education, training, and ethical practice.

Experience and specialization

Look for a surgeon who specializes in Brazilian Butt Lifts and performs them regularly. Don’t be shy. Question them about their specific experience extensively. A surgeon who frequently performs your desired procedure is likely to have refined their technique, leading to better results.

Bedside manner and communication

It should be your practitioner’s top priority to make you feel comfortable, safe, and heard. They should listen to your goals and concerns and provide clear, honest answers to your questions. A good practitioner will not pressure you into additional procedures and will suggest options that are best for your health and beauty goals.

Before and after photos

Reviewing “before” and “after” photos is fun, but that doesn’t make it any less serious a step when choosing a surgeon for your BBL. Photos of previous clients who went with the technique you want can give you a sense of their work and the results you can expect. All photos should be available to you during your consultation, even if they are not posted online due to privacy concerns.

Facility accreditation

A Blepharoplasty should only be performed in an accredited facility. Accredited surgical centers meet strict safety and quality standards, providing a safe environment for your procedure. Look for accreditation from organizations such as the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF) or the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
