What Tummy Tuck types are out there?

People of all body types choose Tummy Tucks for different reasons, which is why it’s so important to talk openly with your Bliss Care Advisor about the approach that’s right for you. Go beyond your beauty goals. Share your concerns, your medical history, and even how you feel about your belly – this will help us guide you to the right type of Tummy Tuck for you.

01.

Full Tummy Tuck:

Get in there and reshape your core with an approach that targets the upper and lower abdomen. Your surgeon will make a hip-to-hip incision and, in some cases, one around the navel, too. From there, they’ll carefully separate the skin from the abdominal wall, realign and tighten the underlying muscles, remove any excess skin and fat, and reposition the belly button to create your new midsection. It’s a detailed approach designed to rebuild your foundation from the inside out.

02.

Mini Tummy Tuck:

A Mini Tummy Tuck targets the lower abdomen, specifically the area below the belly button, and is ideal for clients with a small amount of loose skin or stubborn fat in that region. It involves a shorter, horizontal incision just above the pubic area and typically does not include muscle repair, making it a less invasive option than a Full Tummy Tuck. Because of this, recovery time is usually faster, with many clients returning to light activity within 1-2 weeks.

03.

Extended Tummy Tuck:

An Extended Tummy Tuck goes beyond the standard procedure by lengthening the incision to address not just the abdomen but also the flanks and lower back. It’s especially beneficial for clients who have lost a lot of weight and are left with loose, hanging skin around the midsection. This approach gives more comprehensive contouring of the waistline and sides.

Use a pillow to protect your stomach when coughing, sneezing, or making other oral responses.

Bliss turns the typical procedure process into a transformative experience. From your first consultation to your final reveal, every step — before, during, and after — is personalized around you. Your Care Advisor will guide you through surgeon-matching, procedure prep, and post-op healing, making sure you’re fully supported, perfectly prepared, and cared for at every moment.

Let’s talk about results.

When you feel good in your body, you move through the world differently, and that matters. A Tummy Tuck is the perfect way to find that movement. While full healing fully from a Tummy Tuck takes a few months, the results are visible right away, and with a healthy lifestyle, they can last for a lifetime.

Immediate post-op

You’re going to feel tired and sore, but the pain medication your surgeon will prescribe will help take the edge off, and the compression garment will support your stomach.

Weeks 2-4

Swelling and bruising will subside dramatically.

Months 1-3

Your body will continue to heal, and you'll begin to see your final results.

Anesthesia and Blood Clots

A Tummy Tuck impacts the shape and firmness of your midsection, creating a smooth, sculpted look that even consistent workouts can’t always achieve. Because it’s a highly customizable procedure, your surgeon can tailor every detail to match your unique body type and personal aesthetic goals, giving you results that feel surprisingly natural.

A surprising benefit to Tummy Tuck procedures is that they can repair diastasis recti, a condition where the abdominal muscles separate because of pregnancy or weight gain. It can also help with lower back pain, urine incontinence, and core muscle movement.

A Tummy Tuck can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks, particularly if they’re located on the excess skin that’s removed during your procedure, often found on the lower abdomen. While it's not the main goal of a Tummy Tuck, many clients like to think of it as a rewarding bonus on the journey to self-confidence.

While infections are rare, they’re still a possibility, especially if post-op care isn’t followed closely. Keeping the surgical area clean, taking any prescribed antibiotics, and sticking to your recovery plan are essential steps to reduce this risk and support healthy healing. Without proper care, complications like hematomas (painful pockets of blood) or seromas (fluid buildup near the incision site) can occur, which may increase the chance of infection and delay your recovery. Scarring, sensation, and symmetry: Scars are a natural part of any procedure, but your surgeon will place incisions strategically to reduce their visibility. Some clients may also experience changes in sensation or slight asymmetry, both of which often improve over time or can be addressed with minor touch-ups if needed.

Like any procedure, there are potential risks related to anesthesia and blood clots. To reduce these, your surgeon will review your medical history beforehand, and you’ll be encouraged to move around early in recovery and wear compression garments as recommended.

Financing is how most Bliss clients bring their dreams to life. Yet, 76% of people exploring procedures still don’t know this option is available. No wonder 85% of those who don’t book say affordability is holding them back, and two-thirds would be more likely to move forward if they knew financing was an option.

We work with trusted lenders like CareCredit to offer you a range of financing options, so you can get started on your procedure now and pay over time. Flexible, secure, and with 0% interest for up to 24 months, it’s care that fits your budget, not the other way around. With multiple providers, we’ll make sure you get the best rate possible.

Find the right Tummy Tuck surgeon.

One of the most important parts of your aesthetic journey is finding the right surgeon for your procedure. One who will honor and respect your comfort level, aesthetic goals, and give you the results you’ve been wanting. But how do you know when you’ve found “the one?”

Board certification

Surgeons who are certified in aesthetic or ophthalmic surgery have undergone rigorous training and must pass comprehensive written and oral exams. Certification ensures that the surgeon has met high standards of education, training, and ethical practice.

Experience and specialization

Look for a surgeon who specializes in Tummy Tucks and performs them regularly. Don’t be shy. Question them about their specific experience with this procedure extensively. A surgeon who frequently performs your desired procedure is likely to have refined their technique, leading to better results.

Bedside manner and communication

It should be your practitioner’s top priority to make you feel comfortable, safe, and heard. They should listen to your goals and concerns and provide clear, honest answers to your questions. A good practitioner will not pressure you into additional procedures and will suggest options that are best for your health and beauty goals.

Before and after photos

Reviewing “before” and “after” photos is fun, but that doesn’t make it any less serious a step when choosing a surgeon for your Tummy Tuck. Photos of previous clients who opted for the same Tummy Tuck type can give you a sense of their work and the results you can expect. All photos should be available to you during your consultation, even if they are not posted online due to privacy concerns.

Facility accreditation

A Blepharoplasty should only be performed in an accredited facility. Accredited surgical centers meet strict safety and quality standards, providing a safe environment for your procedure. Look for accreditation from organizations such as the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF) or the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
